Now You Can Build Your Own 992-Generation Porsche 911

The new 992-generation Porsche 911 has only been out for a few days, and Porsche hasn’t wasted any time putting an online configurator together for us enthusiasts to use. If you need to kill some time, this is the perfect way to do it.

If you’ve ever spent time on Porsche’s configurator before (who hasn’t?), you’ll be familiar with the process. Currently, you’re only able to build your own Carrera S or Carrera 4S, as other models, such as the base Carrera, Targa, convertible, and Turbo models have yet to be announced.

But just because there’s only two models to choose from doesn’t mean you’re lacking in choice. As with any other Porsche model, there are a seemingly endless amount of options and color schemes to choose from. Some highlights are the new Lizard Green paint (the launch color for the 991.2 GT3 RS), and the carbon-ceramic brakes, which you can now get with black calipers (previously, if you opted for carbon-ceramics, you had to settle for yellow calipers). Interestingly, though Porsche says you’ll be able to get the new 911 with a manual transmission, no such option is listed (yet).

Out of the 17 colors available, I think I like Carmine Red best. There are four wheel styles, all measuring 20 inches up front, and 21 in the back. I specced this rear-wheel drive Carrera S with the RS Spyder wheels, a carbon fiber roof, and a rear window wiper. Check out the configurator here to build your own. And just a note—there aren’t any prices listed, so if you’re curious how much your dream 911 will cost, you’ll have to wait a bit longer for option pricing to be released.
